Steamed Date Pudding with Olde Fashioned Lemon Sauce

Steamed Dates Pudding

Ingredients for Steamed Date Pudding~

  • 1 cup flour
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • ½ cup 2% milk
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • ¼ cup (4 Tablespoons) butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 small package dates, cut up

Method for Steamed Date Pudding ~

Mix all ingredients together, put in a greased pan double cover with foil.  Place that pan in a 9×13 pan with about an inch of water in it and steam for 2 hours to 2 hours and 15 minutes (until a toothpick comes out dry) in a 350 degree oven.  After 30 minutes, cut a slit in the foil.

Ingredients for Old Fashioned Lemon Sauce ~

  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • grated rind of 1 lemon

Method for Old Fashioned Lemon Sauce ~

Cook over medium heat stirring constantly just until it comes to a boil.  Serve hot or cold.
